A MOULDED BRONZE FIGURINE OF THE MONKEY GOD, HANUMAN
Possibly Uttar Pradesh or Himachal Pradesh, Himalayan foothills, Northern India, 19th century

Featuring the Hindu monkey deity, Hanuman, devoted guardian of Lord Rama, with the right hand lifted, showing the palm to the beholder in the abhaya mudra, offering assurance and protection to his devotees, the latter hand holding a sinuous vegetal stem, standing on a rectangular base.
