A SAFAVID BLACK AND TURQUOISE KUBACHI POTTERY DISH WITH FLOWER SCROLLS

Of shallow rounded shape, resting on a short circular foot, with an everted, sloping rim, painted in black under a monochrome turquoise glaze, the interior decorated with stylised floral scrolls with lotus flowers and waterweeds, the cavetto plain, and the rim with abstract cloud bands and horizontal strokes.

The design of this Kubachi pottery charger is almost identical to another 17th-century Safavid dish sold as part of seven at Christie's London, 26 April 2013, lot 767.
