PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE GLYPTOLOGY COLLECTOR
Qajar Iran, dated to the second half of the 19th century
Each of different shape, table-cut, respectively made of red carnelian, clear quartz, and possibly agate or glass, each set in low-grade silver mounts, their central fields inscribed with a single line of cursive Persian nasta'liq script invoking one of the Twelve Shi'a Imams, namely Hossein, Isma'il and Reza, dated respectively 1281 AH (1864 AD), 1294 AH (1877 AD), and 1313 AH (1895 AD).
