French printed book, Le Cantique des Cantiques, also known as The Song of Songs or The Song of Solomon, translated by Ernest Renan (1823 - 1892) and with 16 polychrome illustrations by the Swiss illustrator Gustave Louis Jaulmes (1873 - 1959), featuring a biblical poem, one of the five megillot (scrolls) found in the Ketuvim (writings), the final section of the Tanakh, differently from most books in the Hebrew Bible emphasising on laws, covenants, and divine worship, this volume focuses on erotic poetry, the hard-back cover hand-painted with a large daisy flower.
