A PERSIAN SULTANABAD POTTERY INKWELL
Iran, 14th century
Fritware bulbous body, sitting on a round foot, with a short neck and a slightly uneven everted rim. The exterior is decorated with underglaze painted blue patterns, showcasing alternating vertical stripes and round dotted motifs. The small size suggests it was intended for use as an inkwell. Renowned for their dense, often Chinese-inspired designs of animals or foliage, these ceramics were primarily produced in Kashan, Iran, rather than in Sultanabad itself.
