Edo period, 18th/19th century
A Japanese hanging scroll painting, kakejiku, ink on paper, depicting a scholar and his apprentice quietly gliding up the stream towards a hut in a distance beneath snow-clad trees, signed Soken, sealed Soken, together with a hinoki wood box.

Provenance: the Claudio Perino Collection, Turin, acquired mostly in Japan in early 2000s.
Exhibited: MAO Museo d'Arte Orientale, Turin, and MUSEC Museo delle Culture, Lugano, 2020 - 2022.
