Louis Erard – Swiss Heritage and Regulator Expertise

Founded in 1929 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Louis Erard has a long-standing reputation for producing finely crafted mechanical watches. The brand introduced its first timepieces in 1931 and has since remained dedicated to accessible Swiss watchmaking with an artisanal touch. Known particularly for regulator watches, which separate the hour, minute, and second hands into distinct subdials, Louis Erard has collaborated with several renowned independent watchmakers, blending classic horology with artistic innovation. Today, the company is based in Le Noirmont, Switzerland, continuing its tradition of crafting mechanical timepieces with unique design elements.

Konstantin Chaykin – Russian Innovation in Watchmaking

Konstantin Chaykin, born in Saint Petersburg in 1975, is a renowned independent watchmaker and inventor. Since founding his own workshop in 2003, he has become known for creating some of the most imaginative and technically advanced timepieces in contemporary horology. He holds multiple patents for his inventions, including complex astronomical displays and unique mechanical indicators. Among his most famous designs is the “Joker” watch, which features a playful, animated dial. As the only Russian member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), Chaykin is recognized for merging high horology with storytelling and character-driven design.

The Likho-Inspired Le Régulateur – A Playful Yet Sophisticated Creation

The Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin Le Régulateur takes inspiration from Likho, a one-eyed creature from Slavic folklore symbolizing misfortune. Chaykin’s signature anthropomorphic dial design is at the heart of this creation, transforming the regulator layout into a watch that feels alive.

• Hour Display: A large, central eye at 12 o’clock, rotating to indicate the hours.

• Minute Hand: A long, curved hand resembling an outstretched arm moves along the green minute track.

• Seconds Subdial: A jagged, saw-toothed rotating disc at 6 o’clock, representing Likho’s grinning mouth.

The 42mm stainless steel case houses an automatic movement, visible through the exhibition case back. Completing the design is a black toad leather strap with purple accents, reinforcing the watch’s bold yet elegant aesthetic.
