Isfahan, Iran, early 20th century, stamped Ja'far

Of hexagonal shape, each side and the lid delicately engraved with figural, animal, and bird motifs among dense floral sprays, featuring scenes of musicians and pairs of animals in garden landscapes, the top depicting a pair of musicians playing in an open-air setting, all framed within intricate borders of scrolling rosette sprays, the underside stamped in Persian ‘Ja’far’, a known Isfahani silversmith active in the early 20th century, the interior left plain.
