PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE GLYPTOLOGY COLLECTOR
Iran and India, second half 19th and early 20th century
Comprising an octagonal, a circular, and five oval pendants, mostly table-cut, made of agates, carnelian and jade, all unmounted, inscribed with auspicious sayings, prayers, and Quranic suras in a variety of cursive scripts including naskh, pseudo-thuluth and riqa', the correct direction of the text from right to left suggesting their use as protective amulets set on bazubands (armband bracelets) and pendants.

Following the success of our inaugural sale earlier this June, our Islamic and Indian Art department is pleased to present their upcoming auction, Arts of India and the Islamic Lands, which is now live on our website.
