A GROUP OF THREE METAL BEGGING BOWLS (KASHKULS)
Iran and Central Asia, 19th-20th century
Of typical boat form, resting on a lobed foot. Two of them are made of tinned copper: one decorated with a latticed pattern filled with repeated stylized flowers, and the other with arrow-shaped scrolling flowers beneath the upper rim and engraved with a long Persian and Arabic religious cursive inscription. The smallest is made of brass and delicately engraved with an inscription and vegetal motifs under the mouth rim, with two makara-head finials.
