Introduced in the 1950s as a sporty addition to the Datejust family, the Rolex Turn-O-Graph is a historic model that paved the way for the iconic Rolex sports watches. Often regarded as the precursor to the Submariner and GMT-Master, the Turn-O-Graph was the first Rolex to feature a rotating bezel—a function that allowed for quick timing of events, from diving to flying.

The Ref. 1625 from the 1970s is a distinctive member of the Turn-O-Graph family, blending the classic elegance of the Datejust with the added utility of the fluted, rotating bezel. Nicknamed the “Thunderbird” after its association with the U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbird aerobatic squadron, the Turn-O-Graph was recognized for its blend of style and functionality.
