Born in Karbala, Iraq, in 1962, Ali Al-Tajer studied drawing at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad. He is currently a member of the Association of Iraqi Artists as well as the Organisation of Iraqi Fine Artists.
Ali Al-Tajer’s work depicts daily urban life in Iraq, incorporating traditional aspects of Iraqi heritage and material culture - often, as in this work, through the dress and jewellery of his central figures, as well as the surrounding architecture.
