A BYWALID HAND-EMBELLISHED DECORATIVE COLLAR WITH POSSIBLE ANTIQUE METAL CLASP

An elaborate and characterful decorative collar attributed to Walid, renowned for reworking antique textiles into richly layered, one-of-a-kind pieces. The collar is densely embellished with hand-applied floral motifs composed of paste stones and beadwork, arranged across a textured woven ground. The upper register is formed of stylised flower heads, intricately set with faceted stones and seed beads, while below hangs a fringe of soft cord tassels interspersed with suspended spherical bead drops, lending movement and theatricality.

The construction reflects a fusion of materials and periods, with the possibility of earlier components incorporated into the design. The clasp fittings, featuring pierced metal elements, may be of antique silver or silvered metal, consistent with ByWalid’s practice of integrating reclaimed historic hardware.

Condition: Condition is good used - consistent with the age and nature of this lot; there is visible wear to the textile ground, areas of fraying and loosening to cords, and some dulling or minor losses to the paste stones.
